Responsible by
The Department of Anatomy and Department of Physiology: Biochemistry Unit
Degree offer
MS in Veterinary Biosciences
PhD in Veterinary Biosciences
What is VETERINARY BIOSCIENCES?
Veterinary Biosciences is a biological sciences program dedicated to those areas underpinning veterinary medicine.
Why study VETERINARY BIOSCIENCES?
Veterinary Biosciences program offers excellent opportunities for career development in both veterinary and biomedical fields.
This program is designed to emphasize interdisciplinary approaches in veterinary and bioscience research. Our students will specialize in gross, microscopic, ultrastructural and applied anatomy, cytology, biochemistry, molecular biology and biotechnology to improve the management and health of animals. The students will be exposed to customized coursework, instructed by experienced staffs. They will also develop teamwork skills, written and oral presentation skills and gain research experience at our outstanding facilities.
Graduates from this program will be well-prepared and ready to initiate their own research in both applied and clinical veterinary sciences.
CAREER AFTER GRADUATION:
1. Professor
2. Researcher in Veterinary Sciences and Life Sciences
3. Scientist
4. Veterinarian

Research in Veterinary Anatomy
Research
The Department of Anatomy is engaged in high quality, internationally recognized research which focus on different fields: Basic Anatomy, Clinal Anatomy, Neurosciences, Veterinary structure and function, Reproduction and development, Biomaterial and as well as Veterinary educational research. Many research works are constructed in collaboration with both intra-and extra-mural institutes. The department welcome all kind of research collaboration in all disciplines and expertise as our ultimate goals are to extend and integrate the importance of anatomical research in all related research field.
In addition, our research is not limited to animals, but explores all research questions through cellular units and further to organoid systems.
Histological process
Histological process
In this section, the department assists the researchers to investigate samples at the microscopic levels. All kinds of microscopic procedure which are tissue processing, cryosection, histochemistry, immunohistochemistry as well as immunofluorescence are available in our academic service. In addition, we offer the slides-canning and image analysis system for all research and development procedure as well as biomaterial testing. Most of histological services are tailor made depending on experimental design. The department also provides the instrumental service such as photomicroscope, image analysis program and cryosection machine. For more information, please contact our department

Animal Stuffing Service Project
Animal Stuffing Service Project
This is an academic service project that truly reflects the department's identity and uniqueness. It has been held regularly in the past ten years with success in bettering the stuffing technique. Animal stuffing is an important anatomical technique used to preserve the animal's body after death for longer preservation, and to maintain the appearance of the animal in all aspects. From the survey through various channels, we found that the demand for knowledges and methods of the animal stuffing technique is increasing at present as this technique can accommodate the needs of owners of various pet-related animals, such as dogs, cats, rabbits and squirrels. Moreover, animal stuffing techniques are required for those involved in the conservation of rare and expensive wildlife, including commercial aquarists who care for fish and marine invertebrates. Government agencies, private sectors, or even educational institutions also want to maintain the condition of various animals which are specific to that agency for exhibition. The creation of a museum for teaching students and providing knowledge about animals for the public is increasing. The department therefore deems it appropriate to organize an animal stuffing service project to be an academic service in the field of animal stuffing to agencies or the general public and to provide techniques for preserving real animals by means of animal stuffing to create a network for animal conservation.
Plastination
Plastination
To improve the specimen preservation of veterinary education, the tissue or plastination of the specific organs or the whole body is applied. The service is offered in all kinds of the tissues such as animal fetus, internal organs, locomotion system etc. The plastinated products can last for a long period, non-toxic, odorless, and even has the texture, color, and appearance as the live animals. Therefore, they are valuable education tools for not only biomedical science but also for the community
